I've just installed SMF 1.0.1 (upgrade from 1.0 RC 2). Every thing is fine, except the Admin area, there are no links. The <a href=""> tags are there in the source but no link text.

This is a clipping:

</tr>
<tr class="windowbg2">
<td class="smalltext" style="line-height: 1.3; padding-bottom: 3ex;">
<b><a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=admin">Administration Center</a></b><br />
<a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=admin;credits"></a><br />
<a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=editnews"></a><br />
<a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=manageboards"></a><br />
<a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=packages"></a><br />
<a href="http://www.thecubanheels.com/bboard/index.php?action=manageattachments"></a><br />

Any ideas, the board works fine, I just can't do any thing.

Rich

In addition I have just noticed text is missing from the posting page as well (the additional options).

I'll say again: the only thing that can cause that error is a corrupt archive in the Packages directory.  There may be one you cannot see, but there must be one.

Sounds like something's wrong with Admin.english.php.  Please upload all the files in Themes/default/langauges again.

I cannot find the update anywhere in the package manager. Do I need to add a server to it?

If it's not at the very top of the package manager, as a link, you probably aren't using 1.0.  In this case, you cannot use the package manager method of upgrading.

Use the upgrade download from the downloads page, unzip, upload and run upgrade.php

That is not working... I guess I will have to install from scratch.

Why does it not work, what happens, if you give us more information we can help you get it up and running.

It did work now, I was using the wrong upgrade file.

Now I see a different problem: I have Mambo + SMF... when I open SMF Admin directly it says I´m running 1.0.1... when I open it through MAMBO it keeps telling me that it is 1.0 RC2  :-\

Weird.

I checked my javascript console, and i get a load of errors. the majority say:

Error: setInnerHTML is not defined
Source File: http://www.x-revolt.info/index.php?action=admin    LIne: 257

could this be causing the " You are unable to connect to simplemachines.org's latest news file." error?

Make sure script.js has been uploaded properly, and press Ctrl-F5 (or Apple-R) when viewing your forum.

I reuploaded the file. I assumed here that the script.js could be used for all themes, as by default i use Aquamania GreenBlue01

Odd, as my default and classic themes no longer function

edit: good news. I had a url problem with my default and classic themes, where i forgot to change board.blah to www.blah
all fixed. thanks alot.

You may need to talk to your host.  Can you delete the files and upload over them? (remember to keep Settings.php!!)

Edit the file smf.php in the root of your smf directory...
Find the line that says:
$forum_version = 'SMF 1.0 RC2';

and change it to:
$forum_version = 'SMF 1.0.1';

smf.php is not a part of smf it self, but of the mos_smf bridge...
That should work fine
Sh*t happens
All the time
