Double log-in - can you update this from php 1?

I found this as a solution to the problem of the double log-in screen in smf 1

Can you tell me if it also applies to smf 2?

I know I can go in and try but I don't have enough knowledge to fix something if I do the wrong thing.

I'm not entirely sure. You can try making a separate test install of SMF 2.x though and then if that works you can update your main site
