Hello and happy holiday,
I've huge number of "core." files creating automatically in my FTP. Each is about 30 MB and has over 1000 files. I had this problem before with v1 but was fixed not sure how  :o

Anyway to stop it? I've manually deleted over 1000 files already to gain space.

Thanks.

I don't see whats happening here. What do you mean automatically creating files? What are these file names?

SMF does not just create files like that and that big of a file.

Yes it's automatic.

File names goes by

core.1234
core.1235
core.1236

and so on.

I ended up on core.35000 until I started deleting them right way.

Re core files - they aren't from SMF.
A good explanation tip regarding them was posted at
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=223829.msg1437494#msg1437494

You might want to bring it to the attention of your host.

xyxis_fahim

Thanks I've reported them

Google it. It's very easy

No it wasn't created by ftp client , I've uninstalled Auto email inactive users mod. Seems to stop now.

Hi,

What FTP Application did you use to upload the files to the host?

It's still continuing to create those files ....

What has your host said?

metallica48423

these files are created when a server side application crashes.

it is not an smf error or creation.  it is 100% something that your host will have to fix :)

Host responded "They are in relation to the script you have to view and correct these issues yourself"

Hmm...

I've this problem too!!! :(

I use SmartFTP on a Linux Server...
The file size for each file (core.xxxx) is 31.480 KB, the files are 9!!

They take a lot of my space!!! If they're not SMF's, can I delete 'em?
