Database problem!!!

Dear All,

I wanted to move to 2.0 from 1.1.5 version but it seems to me that for some reason 2.0 wont read from the old database. I point at the database but all i get is with newly installed 2.0 a blank page as a result.

Just for you to know, I have backed up my previous database of 1.1.5 with data and structure but 2.0 seems like it cannot read it.

Do you have any suggestions what might go wrong?

this is the message that I get. I found upgrade.php but this is what I get.

any advise on this:

Go into Admin / Forum maintenance then click Check all files against current version and it will show your current version of each file and the latest it should be.

You will be able to find out what files it is saying are out of date then.

Well if I could get the admin page i would be more than happy. but as soon as I specify the path of the database all I get is an empty/blank white page.

You cannot access the forums at all ?

You dont need to FTP to get this info it is done through normal login.Sorry if I wasnt clearer over this.

I'll be more specific about all this issue.

Although I've tried your suggestions the problems still seems to be there. I have tried all possible ways to update my forum to 2.0. My 1.1.5 with the database connected works perfectly, and everything is up to date. When i do installation of 2.0 and point to the same database used by, perfectly working, 1.1.5 it gets me a blank white page without displaying anything on it. I did check my files against current version and they all are up to date.

It seems to me that 2.0 forum is not reading my old 1.1.5 database. Any one with any ideas on how to solve this?

Make sure that you overwrote all the files properly, and upgrade.php is the file which upgrades your DB to math with the 1 of SMF 2

You downloaded the large Upgrade package for SMF 2.0 Beta 3.1 Public, unzipped and upload all the files contained in package. Then run the upgrade.php file.

This done over your 1.1.5 should then result in an upgraded forum. Now any mods or custom themes might not survive the upgrade process. Also for the most part it's a one way process.

There was a problem with the package before which caused this which has since been patched in the download archive (file linked above)
