Moving Forum to another Domain

So recently, I have just bought a new domain for my site. I am currently using some lousy sub-domain and I want to move my forum over to my new domain. I'm not sure how to do this so can someone help me?

If your new domain is going to be hosted by your existing host, its as easy as adding the domain in your cPanel or other control panel configuration, then moving your forum files into the newly created folder on your account for that domain, then using repair_settings.php to adjust the paths. What is repair_settings.php?
