SSI and custom profile fields.

I'd like to pull data from custom fields in a users profile using SSI.php, I have searched this forum and I think I will need to write a new query in SSI.php, or is there something that could already do this?

Back in April [Unknown] was thinking about "writing a function that would allow you to pull specified fields from a specified member's profile." Anyone know if this happened?
