I am trying to install two mods

1.   Buddy List   1.21
2.   Message Icon Manager   1.2

Neither will install

I get this (or similar, depending on the mod ) each time

Install Actions for archive msgiconqr_v1.2.tar.gz:
Installing this package will perform the following actions:
Type   Action   Description
1.   Extract File   ./Sources/MsgIcon.php
2.   Extract File   ./Themes/default/MsgIcon.template.php
3.   Extract File   ./Themes/default/images/arrow_down.gif
4.   Extract File   ./Themes/default/images/arrow_up.gif
5.   Execute Code   MsgIconPdb.php
6.   Execute Modification   ./Themes/default/languages/Modifications.english.php   Success
7.   Execute Modification   ./Sources/Subs.php   Success
8.   Execute Modification   index.php   Success
9.   Execute Modification   ./Sources/ModSettings.php   Success
10.   Execute Modification   ./Themes/default/Post.template.php   Success
11.   Execute Modification   ./Sources/Post.php   Success
12.   Execute Modification   ./Themes/default/Display.template.php   Success
13.   Execute Modification   ./Sources/Display.php   Success

I enter my server details, assuming that the Local path to SMF is correct, and I get the same screen again.

I have tried extracting the files myself and ftp-ing them to the destination folders and then excecute via the browser. When I do that I get this :

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: db_query() in /files/.....munged by me.../our-local/Packages/MsgIconPdb.php on line 29 or similar with the other mod.

(I have now run upgrade.php on this installation so that d/b and forum are both 1.0.1 and search works)

What path are you using, what's the file path, and what folders do you see when you log into your FTP?

Not sure what you mean by file path. If you mean in the server settings smf is  /files/home3/nokonium/our-local & Sources is /files/home3/nokonium/our-local/Sources

Folders in ftp view are; Attachments, Avatars, Packages, Smilies, Sources and Themes

bank mod, banner manager, visual warning/post moderaton

none of them work :S

Dem0n

give me access again and i can install them.

Before you install or try to make mods remember to make a backup of your forums.

Also its in your best bet to look and make sure the mod has been updated for the current version of your forums.

problem wasnt related to SMF, but rather a few customized server settings...spaces...blanks...lol.

thanks

Lamer

I just installed a new SM Forum 1.0.2 and I have the same problem. Anyone fix this? I don't know what gusto5 did, I don't know of any settings with extra spaces.

I'll explain the problem again. I can fully download packages, but when I click "Apply Mod" it goes to the page with the Success/Failure thing listing the things it will do and it has the FTP input boxes at the bottom. The only option is to input FTP information. But no matter what I do, it always goes back to that page.

I also had this problem when installing SMF, the FTP information wouldn't do anything, but I got it to work by CHMODing the stuff myself.

To give you an example, I'm trying to install the Faster Parsecode package, which only does one change and it says Success.

The FTP server says localhost. I've tried using the site name and the site's IP address.

The "local path to SMF" is: /home/virtual/site137/fst/var/www/Forum

Lamer

I had to wait a day because my FTP services went down, but I was able to get it to work by removing everything before the "/var/www", like someone mentioned earlier. Can't a hint about this be included somewhere? Maybe by the FTP box this applies to?
