Hi. I know there have a been a ton of these posts in the past, but I can't find many answers looking through them. I could really use some help figuring out this problem. Please let me know if you have any ideas:

I'm running SMF 2, and have been with no problems for several weeks. Yesterday it randomly started giving me this error instead:

QuoteInternal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.2.8 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.7a mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Resin/3.0.24 Server at hxxp:nickelcadmium.net [nonactive] Port 80

you can also find this as hxxp:www.nickelcadmium.net [nonactive]

Any ideas?

thanks-

-Orion

Look in your hosting error log.  They will typically have 500 errors logged in them.

forgive my noobness, but how do I find this error log? I do not know.

If you have cPanel, look for 'Error Log' on your cPanel home.  If you don't contact your host and see if they can get you a copy.

what am I looking for here?

Nothing useful there.  You should contact your host and see if they can provide any further insight as to what was causing the 500 errors.
