hey im new to smf and i have some questions

1. how do i add a style

2.can i use a 1.5.5 style on 2.0?

3. should i go back to 1.5.5

I think that you mean SMF 1.1.5

1. You can add styles/themes by going to these locactions in your forum, you can download the themes from the theme site:
For SMF 2 Beta: 'Admin' section -> 'Configuration' area -> 'Themes and Layout' tab -> 'Manage and Install' tab. At the bottom of that page there is a box saying "Install a New Theme", you can use that to upload themes for SMF.
For SMF 1.1.5: ''Admin' section -> 'Themes and Layout' area -> 'Install a New Theme' box.

2. No, there are so many changes made between versions that SMF 1.1.5 styles don't work with SMF 2 Beta. Here is a list of themes for SMF 2 Beta.

3. That depends, if you want a more stable forum with more themes then maybe its a good idea to go back to SMF 1.1.5, but if you want more features then stick with SMF 2 Beta.

also how do i add a mod?

Use the Package Manager.

For SMF 2 Beta & 1.1.5: 'Admin' section -> 'Main' area-> " Packages" tab.

for the styles theres a whole folder what do i upload in it

You should be able to use the 'Install a New Theme' box to upload it as a zip/archieve file, Click on the "From a file:" button, which will allow you to easily upload the style through SMF.

last thing

how do i change the logo

like where it says a logo usely how do i chaneg it to  my own custom one on the ehader

There should be a setting called "Logo image URL" in the settings area for each theme, which you can reach by going to the 'Admin' section -> 'Configuration' menu ->  'Themes and Layout' tab -> 'Themes Settings' tab. There will be a list of themes, click on a themes name to edit its settings.
