Conversion Problem

Hiya,

Ive been trying to convert my IPB 2.3 to SMF 1.1.5. Every time i try i get this message:

The converter detected that your host has open_basedir enabled on this server. Please ask your host to disable this setting or try moving the contents of your Invision Power Board 2.3 to the public html folder of your site.

I've been in touch with my host and they say for security reasons they cant disable it, for one reason or another.

Is there any other way around this?

Can you do the conversion locally?
Using something like Xampp (a free web server). You should download and have both forum files on your system including IPB's MySQL DB.
Then setup your IPB forum so you mirror whats on the server, -> Import the db using phpMyAdmin (What is phpMyAdmin?).

When your IPB forum is successfully running on your local web server, follow the instructions at the Online manual and the conversion tools in IPB's Board to get your database compatible with SMF.
