Hi guys,

I've been running a board now for going on three years and I still feel as if I do not completely understand permissions (global v. local) and which ones are better, or how to set up a board properly with what permissions.

Any help would be much appreciated in explaining the theory behind permissions (local v. global).

I'm trying to make posting a new topic, NOT an option... only able to view and post replies. What do I need to do, because right now I keep trying different things and it is not working. I must be missing something simple.

Thanks!

I think you posted in a  wrong section,... but anyway...you should just unchek the "Post new topics" permission for the group you want not to be able to do so (like "regular members"). And leave the "Post replies to topics" cheked. And save. :)

admin/permissions/Permissions by Membergroup/ "membergroup name" - modify

I'm a noob in forum administration, ...but it should work...

If you want to do this just for certain members, you have to create a new group, and put them in that group.
