I'm running on a win2k server with the latest php and mysql installed.  Our forum has an average of 100-200 users on it at a time.  It's very busy.  The server crashes and when I get it back up, I usually have a messed up table in the log_clicks that causes the forum to not work until I empty it.  I figure this is what is causing the whole server to go down.  Any ideas what the prob is?  Will simple machines solve this if I get it?  This is a very time sensitive  issue.  I thank you for any help.

windows has no place on a server ;)

agreed.  Microsoft gave us the servers so they could use our company as a case study.  I'm stuck with windows so any help?  :(

Ride

By the way, I just notice that this forum is BLAZING FAST.  WOW!

When you say its crashing, what exactly is crashing, windows entirely or just maybe the mysql/apache service?

Theres a mod to remove the click log which may help. SMF will certainly be more efficent but if its windows thats crashing check the event log to see if you can pin point the cause of the crash.

Case study results = windows = poo :)

by your statement 'the latest php and mysql', does that mean you're using MySQL 4.x?
You should also give more details, like which process crashed the server, which webserver program are u using (apache/iis), php version, etc

Ride

IIS  MySql 4.0.13      php 4.34   I can't find any log info on what caused the crash or anything.

Upgrade to the latest MySQL (4.0.16) and install my "remove clicklog" mod.  It's the most useless holdover from YaBB ever...

That should solve a lot of problems right there.l

I was looking for a remove click log mod.  Where can I find it?  I searched all over the yabbse site.  Thanks!

None of the links on that thread work!  Help!   8)

Thanks guys!  I've installed the newer mysql and applied the mod.  Hope this will help!  I want to get simple machines asap.  Is it stable enough to change over yet?

I wouldn't say it's suitable for a public board yet - and besides, it isn't released to the general public yet.  Only Chartered Members have access to the current betas.

just out of curiousity... are there any current known reasons why its not stable..? (like any major flaws or anything?) or is it just the general "may not be stable" warning...? (I'm not asking you to tell us how to exploit bugs ;) I'm just asking if any such things are known yet).
thanx

there are still new features coming, and some of them arent fully tested
and like any other software beta versions, there are still bugs in it

Gobalopper

Yep its the not enough testing rather then known problems or exploits. Unknown fixes most bugs right away.

Well, that and a lot of things aren't done in the administration center..... you don't notice that from here, but....

Read the package server: it says to install the first mod first, it updates your package center so it can read my packages.

Where do I get the mod? I got that error when I tried to download it from the YaBBPak center.

It's the first mod in the list.
