I've been reading the posts about Smiley's after upgrade to version 2.
I am having the same problem.
If you right click for the properties of the smilies while posting  they will be in the directory  mysite.com/forum/Smileys/1/smileyname
I tried to move all the smileys into a new "1" directory to no avail.
Each smiley set says something about one smiley not being imported in the settings bu if uou clock save it changes nothing.
I've checked the paths and they are fine and even changed them to the new "1" directory ... no help. Emptying cache does nothing nor does maintenance on the files sturcutre.   Pathto the Smileys is correct. What else could be the issue?

Humm not sure what you mean. Its very easy to add smiley's or i found it easy.

wjat you do is upload your smiley's to your Smiley's directory and then to default folder. Then you login to you forum goto smiley tab and then to add smiley. Then you simply pic where the smiley is and the add the code you wish to use. Hit save or confirm something like that and you done.

Thats it very easy

I have been using SMF for several years.  I have many sets of smileys and they were all working before the upgrade to 2.0.  I've followed the instructions for smiley installation and have used repair_settings.php.

auroramae

I've narrowed it down to a  problem with the default smiley setting. It shows no images no matter which set is chosen as default.

As a work around, I've added a news item that asks each person to choose their own smileys in their profile but not to choose forum/board default.

auroramae

I have fixed this but not in a "normal" way.  Since the forum/default smileys were showing that they were in a folder named "1"  I created that folder and copied only the one set I wanted to be default into that folder.

If I decide to change the default smileys I will need to put a new set into the "1" folder.

I am having the same problem, in the ADMIN area the smilies shows up nicely and their path is from the correct folder, yet on the users side when on the editor, instead of seeing an image of the smiley we see simple text, when we check the property of the text, the path of the missing image show a "1" after the "Smileys" folder, like this ==> forum/Smileys/1/smile.gif

I have made a folder called "1" and put the smilies in there so it shows up normally on the users end, but this is not normal, why should we have two folder with the same smilies?

I don't thinks this is right, who the heck would make a folder for smilies to show in the admin and then another folder with the same smilies so the users see it, this does not make sense.

Anyone of the SMF team have an idea of this issue or how can I fix this, it's a couple of hours I have put into this and I am limited by my knowledge here.... and yes all paths and what not are all good, this problem started right after my upgrade from 1.0 to 2.0... I have spent more than enough time searching this forum for answer an this post is a close a it comes to my question... but no tangible answers yet from the pro's LOL ;)

My issue also occurred after the upgrade.  At least the extra folder is a temp fix.  Glad to hear I am not alone with this issue.  I was worried something went wrong with the upgrade.

Can tell me what you have for the following in your Smiley and Message Icon=>settings area:
Base URL to all smiley sets:
Absolute path to all smiley sets:

Then what sets you have in the Smiley Sets area?

Sorry to be late with this reply.  I didn't have the topic  set for notification.

Here is the strange thing. The problem is fixed.  No more need for the extra "1" folder.

I had another problem with a database error when a user clicked "show new replies" so I uninstalled mods.  Apparently the uninstall of one of them also fixed my smiley issue.

I also had a problem with birthdays showing when disabled but there was a fix posted for that issue.

These are the mods I had

Highlight Search Keywords      1.2
Top 10 Posters Today And This Week Stats    1.1
Bump Topics    1.0
Justify BBCode    1.1
Users Online Today    1.5.2
More Spiders    1.2
Auto Embed Video/Audio Clips    3.1.1

These are the mods I now have

Here is the info you requested although since this issue is fixed it is probably unnecessary.

Thank you for your response, I know of anther having this '1' issue and hopefully the information you've post might help identify if it is in fact the cause from a mod installation.

Glad your issue is fixed.

Thank you very much for trying to help.

I only have the (Double Post Stopper) mod, nothing else, well, I have the shoutbox, but I install it manually and the problem occurred before i inserted the shoutbox, so it can't be that.

Of course all my smilies are installed as follow:
http://xxwxbsite.com/forum/Smileys/FooFire/XXX.GIF
...

Like I said, to show the smilies in the editor area, I need to create a folder named "1" and shove the smilies there or it will not show at all, just text. But in the admin area the smilies found in the original folder works they right way.
