Attatchments in different directories depending on the category.

I am trying to establish a Repository of downloads in the forum, so I have enabled multiple directories in the admin panel. The point is that I cannot find the way to make the attachments get to the correct directory of its category.

Just tell me if you please why do the multiple directories for attachments exist and perhaps I could make up my mind...

I sure you can define multiple folders, but the accessing of the folders is a manual affair so you still have to select the folder you want to use at that time for all attachments.  It's not automatic base on another other factor.
