I don't think that these are 'visual' errors (as in I only notice it in the error logs - I don't think that users are aware of them). But the following type of errors are constantly being generated by every user. Is this anything to worry about?

8: Undefined index:
File: /home/user/public_html/domain/Themes/simplicity2/BoardIndex.template.php (eval?)
Line: 177

File: /home/user/public_html/domain/Themes/simplicity2/MessageIndex.template.php (eval?)
Line: 177
?board=2.0

8: Undefined index:
File: /home/user/public_html/domain/Themes/simplicity2/languages/Settings.english.php (eval?)
Line: 177
?action=profile;sa=theme

8: Undefined index:

Line: 177

8: Undefined index:

I am not sure..I haven't got those errors. Do they arrive when using other themes too..? Beside the default one I mean.

Hi

Nope, just the Simplicity theme. As I said, there's no apparent affect to the user, but.... slightly worried. :-X

destalk

Currently on 510 pages of errors. It seems to be throwing up that error on every single page access...

bloc

Hmm..that is strange. I know you have adjusted the theme a bit....do you mind sending me a copy of your current theme folder ? Just so I can check if the errors appear with me as well. And how to correct it. Because I do not have these in neither of my installations....

I'll understand if you rather not of course. :) Then I would recomend using just the un-altered theme for a while, to see if it creates the errors even then.

destalk

Hi

Happy to do so (can't see a security risk anywhere there ;) ).

The whole theme folder, or just the SImplicity installation?.

OK. I think I have managed to isolate the rogure file. When I add a header.php and footer.php to the index.template.php file, this seems to cause the problem (unless it's when I edited the original headings). AFAIK, I have done this correctly, but I'll send you the index.template.php.

Many thanks.

destalk

OK. I've cracked it.

The problem occurs when I edit out the forum name as follows;

From this -

               <div style="position: relative; left: -20px;text-transform: capitalize; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 40px;letter-spacing: -1px">',$context['forum_name'] , '</div>

To this -

               <div style="position: relative; left: -20px;text-transform: capitalize; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 40px;letter-spacing: -1px">',$context[''] , '</div>

THis is obviously not the proper way to do it.  :-[

destalk

OK, I just stripped out this line and it all seems fine....

               <div style="position: relative; left: -20px;text-transform: capitalize; font-family: georgia, sans-serif; font-size: 40px;letter-spacing: -1px">',$context['forum_name'] , '</div>

This was all so much easier when I just designed for print.

:P

No. ;) $context got all wrong there, getting a non-existing entry. I think.

Love it as always, but will still have to edit it majorly before using it on my site.
The a:link colors are bugging me (personal issue...*l*), same with the large font, the width of the forum is too narrow, I would like to see a way to show that a board has been posted to  (alternative to on1, on2, and off images), and to be able to put the forum navi back into the middle.

Most of that I will do myself, but the on1, on2, and off thing is bugging me.
EDIT: Just saw that there is a "on, off"  variation in your theme, it was just to small for me to decipher. Gonna make a custom set of images.

I'm not sure how to go about the last part, though.

(Always been a huge fan of your work. ;) )  Keep it up.

I found a couple more issues:

1. In my one "Board", all of the boards listed under "Child Boards" are actually the boards in the next category.
2. All of those "Child Boards" links point to .../index.php?board=66.0

Also, could you maybe have the "quick jump box" shrink to a reasonable size? With all those sub-boards I've got, it's really long and makes it nearly impossible to read the message index.

I've been thinking about the Quick Reply box. Is there an easy way to lose the text;
QuoteWith a Quick-Reply you can use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post, but much more conveniently.
And use the saved space to make the reply box wider - the same width as the middle column of text (and perhaps a couple of lines deeper)?

That is strange. In my board/test board they work as planned.I will try it with just one board like yours though. Have you tried to use the latest archive files as of now? They have been updated quite a bit, last one before the this weekend.

As for jumpbox and quick-reply, those can be improved. The tex can be moved underneath, and the height a bit longer.

Hi Bloc

Been using your theme for a bit now and it is excellent. Seems to really promote discussion. WEll done!

However, (isn't there alwys a however? ;) ), I seem to have a major bug  - in my setup anyway. It goes like this;

In the quick reply box;

1. Type a message

2. click preview

3. post disappears.....

4. using the browser back button doesn't help recover teh 'lost' message.

That's it really. Any ideas, or is it just my set-up?

Thanks

Hmmmm. Perhaps ignore that last post - sorry. It appears that this only happens to one of my users (AFAIK). It happens even when they post (without the preview...). Very odd.

<--- EDIT! --->

Although I've just tested this on the default theme and this user can preview and post without a problem there.

destalk

Yep, so far it just affects this user... When I switch them back to the simplicity theme they are once again unable to preview or post messages.
