Don't fall for cheap tricks like that, I believe horrible showing off like that drags SMF's quality level down...

I reckon it looks good...
used in the wrong ways it can be terrible.. but I think it works very well as it is. I guess its just opinion.
The kinda look on a proffesional site like this imho looks good... I don't reckon it can detract from the quality unless the quality itself is already questionable.

Personally, I hate it. I have always hated mouseovers on bulletin boards, I think it makes them annoying and tacky.

Now if it was a bright purple mouseover, then it would be tacky

I like it, if it could be easily turned on or off, that would be perfect (and i'm sure it is)... I'll be using it for sure.

I changed over to the YaBBSE theme because I don't like that. I think it is also annoying how my mouse turns into a hand when I hover over the cell, it get's especially annoying when I use my middle mouse wheel to scroll because it starts flickering back and forth between the hand and the pointer.

It doesn't bother me in the slightest if it changes colour, or my mouse cursor changes to a hand - Oh My God! Its the end of the world already. How fussy do you want to be...

I agree with Tyris - It looks alright and used in the wrong way it looks terrible.

well its just a template thing... very easy to do...
I personally reckon tho that with the choice of colour its pretty much perfect to set the board of nicely... only critism would be speed... its never quite instantaneous.

also... whilst not set for this forum... its very easy to give something like that a user setting...
add a yes/no in the user-settings, then check if its set to yes when you display it in the template (hehee, I feel like I know alot about this template system... I havnt seen a single line of code)

I think it looks fine but it was put up there to show someone how easy it is to do...

It just drags the quality level down IMHO.
It's a cheap trick used by kids that want to show off to their friends, and it has no place in a BB...

Regardless if we like it or not, it's all good... we may not like certain colors or certain effects, but we don't need to diss it.

Heck, I don't like some of the layout on certain parts of the board as well, but I just see it as a personal thing, and I will use the template system to the fullest, no need to call things cheap gimmicks and what not... because used in the right way, it can be quite effective.

At any rate... let's get back to the enjoyment of SMF and not the name-calling
