I already found several topic about issues regarding the german Umlaut used in the topic text.

Now I started using the latest Beta and if I create a forum using an Umlaut in the title or the forum description, the title/description ends just before the Umlaut.
Lookint into the database (table: smf_boards) the related entry also ends at this point. So I guess there should be used something like the specialchar function to change the Umlaut to HTML code before saving it into the database.

Is there any other way to avoid this error?

Thank you.
Kind regards

aldo

I could be wrong, about this... But is your database charset UTF-8 or something else?

I didn't choose UTF-8 and all settngs are set to the european ISO format.
Should I choose UTF-8?

What character set is used in the database? You can verify this by opening phpMyAdmin, selecting your forum database and looking at the collation column for the tables.

In particular, write down the collation used for the smf_messages table and, in that table, for the subject column, and post them here.
