I'm using phpbb 2.0.11 and I cannot convert phpbb forum to smf
It gives me a error

Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of phpBB2. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the MySQL account used does not have permissions to access it.

How can I smooth this problem ?

Jerry

both SMF and phpBB need to use the same database.

The boards have to be on the same site, and the db passwords have to be the same.. don't have to be the same db's ;)
Hope this helps

Ok, my DBs are in the same MYSQL and have the same password.  Also, my site is all on the same server.  Only difference between the phpbb i'm running now and the smf i want to run is that smf is sitting in a subdirectory to keep it seperate right now.

I'm getting:

Sorry, the database connection information used in the specified installation of SMF cannot access the installation of phpBB2. This may either mean that the installation doesn't exist, or that the MySQL account used does not have permissions to access it.

I know my password is right because i'm able to log into MYSQL using it.

If for whatever reason I can't get this to work is there a work around or a manual way to convert?  I don't know much SQL though.

i had the same troubles with this as mentioned above, so what i did was ..

my phpBB was in <root>/phpbbfolder/

i created a new folder and dropped the SMF install into there
<root>phpbbfolder/smffolder/

then ran the converter again and it worked a charm, unsure if that will help or even the correct answear though  ::)
