IBF 2.0 to SMF 1.0.1 on different sites

I have a IPB 2.0 PHP VERSION: 4.3.10 (apache2handler), SQL: (MYSQL) 4.0.23-nt
IPB Version v2.0.3 (ID: 20013)  running on my LAN server working very fine ......

Now since iam a student i am trying to get the same forum on smf on a free hosting site which gives me mysql  and php support ...how can i import the whole forum from that to SMF[ I have downloaded smf 1.0.1 ]] ......since i have phpadmin support on the site .....my DB backup [[[ibf_dbbackup[1].sql.gz]] is 329 kb how do i go abt the same .......

can converters help ..........or is there some other way so that all my tables and entries turn from ibf to smf ........please help !!!!

but i need to keep the original IPB 2 board on lan as well if i convert i will lose the ipb board ......

It wont erase your IPB board. Make clean install in differend dir and then convert. You can use both if you want. Make sure you take backups

u need to make your smf tables in the same databsse ...i goofed here and tried to make a new db and it failed.

apart from that you will able to run both forums.

i have found smf excellent the admin panel is not as structured as Ipb imho but once u get used to it the software is well worth the switch

Same database of cource. Just use prefix like smf_, it makes life easyer.
