Hi Everyone,

Just setup Latest SMF 2 Beta 4 to test all the features and to get used to it before a non beta does come out, as so many people going on about it so decided to take the plunge and all i can say is WOW. Much better and a hell of alot more options in as standard. I have alot of mods installed and some are now part of SMF 2 beta 4 so life will be hopefuly a little easier. It will leave SMF 1.1.6 standing in the acient times.

As part of my testing i would like to transfer if possible all my settings in admin, like boards i created, membergroup, permission settings, posts etc all of it if possible,

Can I do this ??? If so how?

Also just wondering, not sure about SMF2 how long it been in beta etc, when is it approx expected to be released as a non beta?

Thank you,
Mathew

Well to test you can always move to a desperate domain and move/upgrade your database... See the steps below

1) Make a backup of your original database on your forum (Admin > Maintenance)
2) Install a fresh SMF1.1.6 forum on another domain or subdomain (I suggest creating a new database for this new forum)
3) Upload your old SMF database (and tables) into your newly created database What is phpMyAdmin?
4) Make sure your domain how settings are all correct using repair_settings.php  What is repair_settings.php?
5) Upgrade that SMF1.1.6 forum to SMF 2.0 beta 4

And there you have it - if any of those steps are confusing please ask!

I will probably get a member of the support team to upgrade my forum for me when its out of BETA, do you have a link that you can share so I can see?

I'm sorry to hear about your family member. It's never a good thing when somebody you know and love dies.

The steps that shadow82x stated should help you in the matter you are requesting.

Best of luck!
