Installing Mods in SMF

I want to install some mods I see at http://mods.simplemachines.org/index.php

I'm currently testing them out using WAMP (not touching the forum on my host since I don't want to mess anything up).  So I loaded WAMP and ran everything as usual.  I then went to the package manager and did the browse for packages while I'm connected online.  I could find the mods at the SMF site (here).  I could install some of them while others ask me where to save the install...php file when I click Install.

Here's the problem.  For those that could be installed, I can't see them.  Like the shoutbox, I could see the configs at the admin section (features...),  but no ShoutBox in forum.  Even tried shutting and restarting WAMP to no avail.

Should all these mods be installed using the package manager as I understand it?

if the mods have been updated to work with your current smf version, they should install fine.
some of them require you to tweak your theme, like the shoutbox, you'll have to call the shoutbox function on your forum index, it doesn't show up right after install.
