@Tjay or anyone with mambo/smf/CB combo working

The sync function solution is half working...

If I create an account through SMF REGISTRATION, there is no problem.
I can then log into smf, it recognises the account, and I'm simultaneously logged into mambo and CB.
I can access the CB profile, and see/edit all my lovely community-builder text fields.

However, this does not work when an account is created though CB REGISTRATION.
In this case I can log-on fine using CB log-in, but then of course I'm not logged into SMF.
But if I try to use SMF log-in, the account (created through CB, remember) is not recognised.

I know that I can extend the smf registration and profile fields in the template, but community-builder does it so much better than I ever could; especially as it has 'required' options and checking routines for email, etc.

It would be really, really, really cool if I could REGISTER through CB so the member has to fill in lots of additional text-fields during the registration process, but then LOG-ON using the SMF log-in so that mambo and SMF are integrated and syncronised.

Any ideas how I could acheive this?
Or is it just a pipe-dream, whistling on the lonely wind?

BTW, since smf, mambo and the mambo community builder are the coolest things on the planet at the moment, could there possibly be any collaboration between the parties involved to bring us to a point where mambo, CB and smf can all share ONE instance of registration, log-in and profile in the database? Or is this really too much to hope for?

the Bridge uses an altered login/registration module...

CB uses an altered login/registration module

To really tie the two together, yuou are going to have to alter one of them so that it calls parts of BOTH sets of functions in the proper order...

Mambo and SMF *DO* share one instance of login/registration through the bridge... the bridge replaces both SMF and mambo's internal functions.
They don't share the same database tables... and won't, since that would require changes to the structures/internal workings...   and Orstio is trying to avoid that (not the least of the issues would be something like the mambo problems when trying to get rid of phpbb that was linked to mambo)

ok, thanks. Not to expect further cohesion then.

What about the main problem outlined? Any takers?
Is it possible to sync the community-builder registration with the smf user database?

As an alternative maybe, what would I have to do to give the smf registration the same functionality as the CB registration? ie. I don't just need to collect extra information in form fields, I also need to check emails are in the correct format, make sure all required fields are filled in, and check that certain strings aren't used in the nickname.
How do I do all that solely by altering the smf (bridge) registration template?

Thanks in advance!
