Moving guest postings to a member

Here's the case:

There's a member with, let's say, 500 posts. He then deletes his account so all his posts are moved to a guest with his username. Then later on, this guy makes a new account. So, I would like to move his old posts back to him.

I wonder if there is way, for example in phpmyadmin, to change the author of the posts?

UPDATE smf_messages
SET ID_MEMBER = ###
WHERE posterEmail = '[email protected]';

Where [email protected] is his or her email, and ### is their new id.  After you do this, go to "recount all forum totals and statistics" under Admin -> Forum Maintenance.

What is phpMyAdmin?

Ok, thanks!

So just to confirm, the [email protected] is his e-mail address before he removed his account (in case his e-mail address has changed since)?

Right.  In some cases, depending on your SMF version and his settings, the email address may not work.  In those cases, you'll need to use his or her old username.

UPDATE smf_messages
SET ID_MEMBER = ###
WHERE posterName = 'Username';
