MK Portal where to install

Ok I have MKPortal folder & index.php (for MKPortal) installed to mainsite, along with my SMF files for the board, than I created a folder called Forum and put the index.php (for SMF) in the Forum folder,

Now I am about to go to the install file for MKPortal but I want to know if I have everything set correctly

I tried going to my site (after moving the index.php for my board) and it loads a tree instead of my board (I guess because the index is in a folder now) with links to the files on my site than when I open the Forum folder and click index.php it doesnt load ? Did I do something wrong or is everything where it is suppose to be and I should just install the MKportal and than it will work ?

Just making sure before I make a mistake possibly

(Please explain in detail I am not good at this stuff)

the whole forum , and all the files for the forum must be moved to the new folder. then after you get done moving the forum run this tool and fix all the urls in it.

What is repair_settings.php?
