Hello,

I've a fundamental question concerning the charsets in SMF. I'm running SMF 2.0 Beta 4, installed the forum with the UTF-8 settings, my database is also utf8_general_ci. The default language package is english, ISO-8859-1. Should/Do I have to update to a UTF-8 language package, so install http://www.simplemachines.org/download/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_1-1-6_english-utf8.zip ?

Another question: I've searched for "english" at the language settings in the admin panel, but I've found only
Name  Description  Version  UTF-8
English_British 2.0 Beta4p Yes
English_British 2.0 Beta4p No

Is the download package for en_us for UTF-8 from http://www.simplemachines.org/download/?languages;lang=english not a valid package or why I can't find the en_us UTF-8 package with the search in the admin panel?

Thx for your help in advance!

I have posted a topic in the staff boards to see why it's not included.

thx for a reply to my 2nd question, but what's with the first question? Is it recommended or necessary to install the UTF8-language package while running an UTF8-forum?

You need the English-UTF8 pack for SMF 2.0. You can try to install it through your admin center (Admin -> Configuration -> Server Settings -> Languages), but a bug in 2.0 may prevent it from installing. If you get an error, download the package from the downloads page, extract everything to your computer, then upload it to your forum directory via FTP.
