Time Zone Issue

i have a problem with the way times are displayed on my forum.  when i look at the time stamps next to new posts on the index's "recent posts" section, the time is correct.  however, when you look at the actual posts, it is 6 hours ahead.

my time offset is set to zero.

thx in advance for any advice.

edit:  also, in my profile, the correct time is shown.

edit:  i have changed this post to accurately reflect the fact that the time is shown 6 hours ahead, not 6 hours behind.

it is the same whether logged in or not.

i don't see any errors that appear to pertain to time.

Is the time offset forum wide set to zero or your personal time offset?

The template you are using was modified version of the BETA 4 default theme?

forum wide is set to zero, and my personal is set to zero.

additionally, when viewing my personal offset, below the box where that setting is entered it shows the forum time which matches the correct time in my time zone (us central).  it says:

Current forum time: November 21, 2008, 11:15:51 AM

that's correct.

but i just made a post on my forum, and the time stamp on my post shows 05:13:27 PM when viewing the post.  that's 6 hours ahead of where it should be.  when you look at the post's listing in the "recent posts" area on the board index, the time is correct there, and again, it's the same post.

and yes, i'm using a modified version of beta 4 default theme.

edit:  just to clear anything up, i had this issue way before i modified the default theme.

for anyone interested, we have fixed this issue on my forum.  however, our solution seems to have been more of a workaround than a fix.
