Email validation bug???

Hi,

I think that there is an error in validating email in SMF 1.0.1. I would like to change my email from yahoo.com to yahoo.ca but SMF does not allow that. It warns me with a red Email label and a message: This must be a valid email address.

The email I would like to change to is: [email protected].

I dont know why SMF considers it as a invalid email address.

Any ideas?

I would like to add more information. I pre-registered a user with inexistent email and activated that account. When I logged in with this account, I tried to change that email but I can't.

Maybe problem from your SMTP server?

Hi,

I think that I have found the reason. I have changed the old email into an email that another user used. But the warning message in SMF is not friendly. So It make me confused.

It works now when I change it into my another email.

The error message has already changed in 1.1.  Still, it's completely true that the email address is invalid; it's already used.
