other users adding users to membergroups

Is there a way to allow moderators to add people to their private board (add to membergroup) without also giving them the ability to add themselves to the admin group?

not built in.... but that should not be too hard of a mod....

I would also like to be able to do this, so if anyone knows how it could be done it would be appreciated.
