Never mind got it working. But does anyone have another swf other than the female one posted a few topics back

Sabre™

If you use google, you will find thousands of them ;)
But, Im still using the original version from Bigguy, so here are the sound files from that mod.

Enjoy :)

Some of my members have asked if it is possible to have have a ding dong sound like outlook play when a new PM comes in as well as on each page load. Can this be done.

Sabre™

Indeed it can be done buddy :)
If you provide the sound you desire, we'll go from there.

Thanks mate. Sound attached

Sabre™

Cool :)
Just to be sure,
a.) do you want the sound played on every page load until the PM is read,
b.) or every time you load a page regardless of there being a Pm?

Ive attached a package to perform the first (a.)

Thank you Sabre, for helping him. This slipped my mind, I did not see this topic earlier. Sorry I did not provide support. I've since, given up on all my other mods. I will not be giving up on this one mod. I did this for time reasons and so I would have more time to manage this small, more simple mod.

I'd like to let you all know what I plan on doing with this mod. I will be adding the following features:

  • Give users the ability to turn on/off the sound via their profile. (with permissions set in admin of course)
  • A much more user friendly system for the ADMINS! I will add options to enable/disable this mod. Add permissions for the mod on a per user group bases. The ability to change the sound in the admin instead of replacing the sound file and/or changing the file name through hard code.
  • I plan to make sure that the final codes are all valid with w3. (as in no incorrect coding on my part) As well as using the most up to date form of coding (mostly with flash elements)
  • And finally, provide support for the latest SMF 2.0 and the latest 1.1

I do not have an expected release date for this due to time restrictions, but I can say I'd like to get all this done before Christmas/Holiday Season! While this is a wide time frame, I cannot promise anymore due to school and such.

Sabre™

Anytime mate :)
Good to read you're keeping your eyes on this mod, it's one of my favs as its simple, and is a good change to the standard alert.
I saw you had passed Gmaps to another, so was going to attempt your suggested edits today for this mod, just to help keep it firing.
Look forward to your next release.

Hi Sabre

Thanks for the help. I appreciate it. What I need it the following

1.  Sound to be played when PM first comes in. Users are saying they stay logged on but may be working on something else and want to
get  the alert when the PM arrives first up without having to wait for a page load.

2.  Following that play the sound on each page load until the PM is read and then no sound unless new PM arrives

Does that make sense?

Sabre™

Yep that makes sense :)

With the first request, I have no idea how that would be achieved, or if it would be possible without rewriting multiple smf files unassociated with the function of this mod.
So that I will leave for a more knowledgeable person.
An 'auto reload' code would only interfere with standard functions, ie. interrupting posting sessions etc etc

With the second, the provided package should perform this.
Did it install ok for you?

Bluey

Have not installed it yet. Will I have to uninstall old one first?
