Whenever my search method gets to about 50 % the page wont load to resume anymore. Its about 247 megs. Fulltext index
cannot be created because the max message length is above 65,535 or table type is not MyISAM.

So how do i create a custom index, if the page wont load? is there any other way?. Thanks.

I only get the error when it gets to about 50% though.

Question is... What is 247mbs?  The database?  If it is that big, and you have full text searching on, it could timeout.

Marsh

Ill explain better I DONT HAVE full text searching on. i cant use that option.

I am creating a custom index. Whenever i try to resume the custom index the page wont load. So how do i continue making it? how do i resume the index. Why wont the page load. I get a error why?

What kind of error?
Did you allow the database to create temp tables? (This could also speed up the search.)

It basically just takes about 10 minutes to try to load the resume page. Any ideas anyone? How do i set it up to create temp tables. My host wont do it for me and i am on a shared dedicated server so i cant edit mysql settings.

Well, any way you can try to talk to the person/host hosting you to assign the privilege to allow creating temporary tables?

And have you tried creating the custom index..? I would give it a try if all else fails

Marsh

I was cleaning up some old topics and see this is not solved.  Sorry for taking so long to respond.

Do you have status.php from the Download area in your forum directory?  If you can provide a link we can look at some of the MySQL info pertaining to your server.

Additionally here is some additional information that may be useful due to the size of your forum.

I had this error and never did solve it. At the suggestion of Ben_S, I move to Sphinx for searching. It's doubtful you'll be able to use that on a shared host though.
