and you have no right to tell me I can't post it.
I don't care what rights have you got. My problem is not your post. It's that stupid "lol" thing.
And I have the right to tell you "don't f**k with me again" We're talking about a serius thing.
If you don't explain the issue like metallica48423 did, then don't!

And since you were wondering, no I am not trying to make friends with you.
I said, only my friends can make fun with me. I don't care what you trying to do..

Please give us some time to discuss the matter and come up a proper implementation.

IDK if this is "acceptable" or not, or what the SMF coding standards would be for this, but why not just use HTML in the language file? Like this:

$smf[whatever] = '<span style="color:red;">Topic Solved</span>';
$smf[whatever_not] = '<span style="color:red;">Topic NOT Solved</span>';

Because when the forum has a lot of languages installed, that can take a while to do and then wait for the language cache to expire can take even more time.

As a follow up, I've just made a request to the translators to translate the button strings to their language.

I can't see any topic solved button, and a member of the development team invited me to mark my post solved, but I could not see how to.

It's below the linktree (bottom left). Only the Thread starter and moderators can view the button.

How about having text above the title line when someone starts a thread, similar to the Showcase forum's notice of...

Quote
Note: this post will not display until it's been approved by a moderator.

But have something like:

Quote
Note: Once your issue has been solved, please click the solved button for this thread so it will be known no further support is needed.

I think many members don't even realize there's a button there. But with a notification like this from the get go they might be more apt to look for this button once the issue is solved.

If possible, it may be good to have a reminder anytime someone responds within their own thread.

Quote
Note: Has your issue been solved? If so, please click the solved button for this thread so it will be known no further support is needed.

And having:

Subject:
Solved: [ ]
Message icon:

Might be a good way to get someone to click the solved box before submitting a "thank you" response to their own thread.

Today is the deadline day and i think we have 14 or 15 languages ready to go in right now :)  I probably won't get to anything for a few days though, unfortunately.

I like the idea of the message.  I'll see what others think.  The other box i don't think is really an option, i think it'd really clutter things up too much.  I think a notification and something to make the link stand out is warranted, though.

Just read this and never realised there was a "topic solved" button.

Spent a while looking and eventually found it, maybe having it in red or more prominent would be better for all; including this forum and it's staff who rely on OP's updating their posts.

Just my twopence worth  :)

EDIT: Found it on here, but were is it in SMF 2.0 Beta 4?

So theres a topic solved button eh!! well you could have fool me (many have)

note to self must find it :)

Thanks @metallica48423. Please not forget this idea.

I have the mod installed on our other server and testing it out.  I still have a few languages to add to it, but it is more or less complete, though this site will require an upgrade before it will install properly.

The current version does not currently have the warning notice on the post template, as I feel it might be a little bit much on the post template.  That and I don't have translations for the notice.

We can re-evaluate that need at a later time :)

I've chosen to go green/red bold for the buttons as it serves as an 'at a glance' notation of the status of the topic, while making it stand out better.  See attached.

Is there any development? Asking for a long time(a month) has passed over.

I Can't install the mod until the forums here are upgraded, unfortunately.  There is a change with SMF 2.0 and sessions that is requiring us to change parts of the site to make it work.  I need to discuss it with the site team more, but *I* hope to upgrade the site this week
