Hello,

I'm testing the option to delete a user's account. To delete the account it needs admin approval. Ok, I login with the test user and request the account deletion. Now I login as admin and... where or how am I informed that the user has requested to delete his/her account?

Thanks :)

JimM

Admin approval means that the user cannot delete their account, only the admin can do that.  There is no notification that a member has tried to delete their account.  They would have to send you a PM or something.

Oh, ok. Thanks for your reply. I think there should be some kind of notification anyway  ::)

If I do a SQL query to search which users has requested to delete their account which table/field/value should I look at?

Thanks again.

Admin Approval means you have to approve their request. You can do this by going to Admin -> Members and clicking on "Awaiting Approval". Scroll down to the bottom and make sure "Unapproved account deletions" is selected. SMF will not send you an email when a user requests to delete their account.

I know Admin Approval means I have to approve their request. I just want a way to know that there is a request. I go to Admin -> Members -> Awaiting Activation but there are no users on the list and no option like "Unapproved account deletions".

Thanks.

there's no notification 'cause (obviously) nobody thought of it!
It's like installing a "Smoking area" 'cause some people just HAVE to smoke and are gonna do it no matter what, so you may as well make a designated area - but not thinking to install ASHTRAYS in this area.

much of SMF is riddled with these little 'bridges to nowhere', 1/2 conceived good ideas not fully born, but its not so bad as it sounds.
I ran into this issue myself some time ago, just create a bookmark to the url where you approve deletions, and check it every week or so
(my logic was, since they wanted to delete their account, its not an emergency - it's not like they are trying to register!

In the future, I may edit the delete account link to redirect to the PM admin link. that makes it more formal and they can give a reason why)

There was actually a bug with this functionality.

http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/view.php?id=2577 - If you follow the fix in the Description i believe it should fix it.

It should be patched in RC1 as well
