Image-Posting hangs things

Every so often, it suddenly becomes true that posting an image without the dimensions defined, yields a browser time-out (server not found) for everyone in my forum. When it's happening, it happens to everyone. Then suddenly it will stop doing that and work for awhile (days or weeks, it varies). My ISP says they have no idea what it is -- but it's clear to me that it's a server-side problem, that some module which determines the size of an image or something, isn't functioning. Anyone seen this, or have an idea? TIA, Bobby

No one in the world has seen anything like this? Hmm. I'm using 1.0.1... been running YaBB/SMF for many years... haven't seen this until recently... I was expecting that someone else would have seen this, since I've quadruple-checked my setup...
