Hello all,

I'm a long time Phpbb user and am thinking about trying SMF on a new site I am dreaming up and have a few questions I am hoping someone can answer..

First, I checked the page source here and discovered that the Subject: = Meta name "description" and that is good..  but how about keywords?  I know that most of you probably say that keywords are no longer relevant, and I'm not going to argue the point.  But what does seem to be gaining ground is the use of "tags" and tag clouds and I have seen some sites taking the "tags" that people enter in and making them the meta keywords for that page / post.  Is there a hack / mod for that or is the any plan to add it to the distro? (edit: I may be able to hack this out myself, but I really suck at php...)

Also, I would be needing a feature that I have never seen before and was wondering about the MOD community here and how difficult it would be to get someone to make a Mod.  Specifically, I want a feature that will allow the "Thread STARTER" and only the "Thread Starter" (with site mods to be able to overrule) to award points (from -10 to +10) for users who post in their threads.  The script should keep a running tab in the users profile of their points and who gave them what points.  The "Thread Starter" should also be able to post a short note or comment that goes with the points that they awarded (kind of like ebay feedback).  The comment will also be displayed in the users public profile.  My goal with a feature like this is to keep members behaving properly and treating the original poster with respect.  As well as offer incentives for reaching certain point levels.  I don't want an automated point system like other sites have just for posting.  Those sites have way too much junk posting just to acquire points.  I want my site to be about the quality of the posts and the person who started the thread would be the best person to judge if the replies they are receiving are worthy of positive points or are junk and deserving of negative points.  While I would be willing to pay for this mod, it would make, I think, a awesome community mod.

I guess that is it for now.  I think I will install this script this weekend and see how it goes.  Thanks and any feedback to my questions will be greatfully received.

for the meta tags: (SMF 1.1.x)
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1211

the award points sytem is something similar to the advanced reputation system for SMF 2.0 I think:
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=1129

Short note: our converters are for SMF 1.1.x only at this time.

Yes, but you could convert to 1.1.7, then use our 2.0 Upgrade pack to get to 2.0. :)

AWESOME!!!  Thanks...

So, I need to install the 1.1 version and get your mods up and running with that, then upgrade to 1.7 and then to 2.0..  Is that correct?

I think I am going to like it here..  :)
