Its obviously a caching issue. I am not quite sure what causes this but it has happened to me every once in awhile. I would suggest deleting that cache file, or refreshing sometimes fixes it.

Its probably a bug but every time I go to get the file in my cache that gives this problem, its gone :|

Well the cache just makes it so each page load it doesn't have to make a query into the settings table and get them out...

If your site isn't very active you won't see a whole lot of difference, but you might it just depends on your server.

For example, my site isn't super active, but its anything but dead...
Board Index without caching: Loads in about 0.128 seconds
Viewing a topic without caching: Loads in about 0.1303 seconds

Board Index with caching: Loads in about 0.096 seconds
View a topic (same one) with caching: Loads in about 0.127 seconds

Pretty noticeable change on the board index not a whole lot on topic viewing, but I just have file caching, I don't have anything like memcache or anything which would probably speed it up even more.

So caching makes things load faster but will it also take up more memory resourses?

Caching should speed things up and in return this should use less resources from the forum if I understand it correctly.

Those cache files get corrupted sometimes. Deleting it like you just did should fix the problem immediately.
