Upgrade Failure from 1.1 RC3

While performing the upgrade I get this.

Updating and creating indexes... Unsuccessful!
This query:

    ALTER TABLE smf_smileys
    ORDER BY LENGTH(code) DESC;

Caused the error:

    You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'LENGTH(code) DESC' at line 2

The Host Server is Running Apache 1.3x, PHP 5.x, MySQL 5.x

How do I fix this "ALTER TABLE smf_smileys ORDER BY LENGTH" error I am getting?
