Making the SSI Latest Topics Searchable?

I have the Search Friendly URL box ticked as I have Apache and it works great.  However, I noticed the SSI recent posts tag ssi_recentPosts() which I placed on my homepage still links to the old version:

I.e: /index.php?topic=16.msg21;topicseen#msg21
Not : /index.php/topic,16.0.html

How can I change this?
