I have several questions about 2.0

  • when will the SMF 2.0 be released?
  • If we deploy 1.1.7 for now, is it easy to upgrade to 2.0?
  • In 2.0 b4, is the WYSIWYG editor built in? If so, how to activate it?

1/ If you mean SMF 2 Final the answer is "when it is ready". RC1 will be available to the public very soon. Charter Members already have it.

2/ Easy, as long as you leave it unmodified.

3/ Profile >> Look and Layout >> Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default

I dont know whether to start a new thread on this but...upgrading to 2.0 from 1.1.7...if the upgrade requires uploading all the files again wont the directories eg with all the attachments in be overwritten too?

I'm just looking for some reassurance about this because I dont want to lose them all...thanks

Antechinus

No, because the attachments directory doesn't get overwritten AFAIK. When you do a fresh installation it's empty. There's no need to touch it during upgrades.
