Need a Query - Does it exist?

Hey guys,

I need to find out if there is a Query available that will show all open database calls.

Apparently my board has been making an excessive # of calls without closing them ???

Yesterday my host (ipowerweb) really screwed me. They completely suspended my entire account, my entire domain! which included both my forum (sub-domained) and my business website. I didnt see the message, but it said something like "Account suspended due to a heavy resource load." They sent me an email but they forgot that my email is through my domain and that was also closed. THOSE BASS-TARDS. Our IT-manager and myself had to go through about 30mins of customer (non-)support B. S. !

Anyways they finally put it back up and said that if this ever happens again they will close our account for good. Seems a bit harsh. They could have called us, they have our phone numbers, but it probably affected a bunch of other customers also on their server so I guess they had to do what they did..

Anyways, about my SMF 1.0.2, I've disabled the Magic Turtles (Llamas) and, this might be why this happened, I've disabled "Use a persistent connection".
But man I've been using the persistent connection option for almost a year now and I've never had a problem like this..

So I'm guessing its some other script I've got. They said that something is creating calls to the database and not closing them? Does that make any sense? So I was wondering if there is a Query that I can run that will return a list of all of the calls to my database so I can see what and how many are open and who the culprit is.

Thanks like always,
BigMike

Does this mean anything?

My boardname_rootsessions is always around 200kb un-optimized... I optimize about every other day and that is always the largest one. I guess that just means that we've got alot of members/guests on, but my forums not really big at all..

I guess I should have inclulded the link: http://board.marlincrawler.com

Also right now, page loads are varying from about 0.4seconds up to 23seconds. You reload the page and its fast. Then 5 mins later you reload it and it takes 20-something seconds.. hmmmmmmm......

BigMike

Wow. Just got a "Page created in 53.119 seconds with 16 queries" :o

Shoutbox is known for being a bit of a hog, any other mods installed?

ipowerweb wouldn't exactly be my host of choice.

Liverpool FC Forum with 14 million+ posts.

Security Fix (PHP <= 4.3.9)
Ultimate Shoutbox 1.22
OnLine Users Today 1.2
Actions in Profile Display 1.2
Buddy List 1.21
Faster Parsecode 1.06
SMF 1.0.2 Update Package 1.0.2
Member Specific Permissions 1.3

That's it. Everything else is just cosmetic. I could remove the shout box but I've been using that mod ever since I can remember and my host has never complained..

Yup, we are r-e-a-l-l-y starting to dislike ipowerweb. It took them 3 MONTHS to get aspell installed so I could get the spell checker going. We will most likely keep ipowerweb for our business site and switch to someone else for the forum site.

Thanks Ben,
BigMike

I just got a reply back from IPowerweb's customer support.

They said that everything is working fine now and nothing is being overloaded.

So it was either the Magic Llama script or the persistent connection, and I'm hoping it was the persistent connection.

So what does it exactly do? I want to learn more about it to make sure it is the larger load (compared to the Llama script) before I put the Magic Turtles (Llamas) back up.

Also, I am still interested if there is a Query that can show what processes are opened.

Thanks
BigMike

Well now my board is moving really smooth and loading pages normally. I am so sick of ipowerweb.

I'll just keep the Persistent Connection off for now and see how it goes.

Thanks Ben

Persistent connections are meant not to be closed.  PHP later pcisk them back up... under heavy usage, this can be more efficient.

Some hosts don't really understand this, or know what they're doing :P.  As such, they'll act as if you're screwing up their server.  That said, if it's a SHARED server, you are - because it hurts everyone else on the server but helps you.  On a dedicated server, it's usually wholly for the best.

You can use "SHOW FULL PROCESSLIST".
