I'm having a problem everytime someone new registers. They do get registered and receive their welcome email but every instance of this shows up in the error logs as below:

I really would like to know how to fix this, it doesn't look good to the person just registering to see this just after he submits his registration. According to the user box he is actually logged in ???:

Find in Register.php:

redirectexit('action=login2;sa=check;id=' . $memberID, true, $context['server']['needs_login_fix']);

Replace:

redirectexit('action=login2;sa=check;member=' . $memberID, true, $context['server']['needs_login_fix']);

How do I modify files?

Thanks Unknown, that fixed it. ;D  It took a while to find that line and like an idiot, I didn't write down the line number. :-[ I have a few more SMF forums and they all have that problem. I guess it's a bug in version 1.0.2?

Yes, but only if you have "immediate registration" enabled (which is uncommon.)

Once I have edited the file as described above, will this then cause problems in future upgrades via package manager?

Also, are there any 'side-effects' as a result of the technique described above?

Thanks

Yep, that worked like a dream.

Well, the next package manager update could theoretically be a problem.  You might just backup the file and, before you update, put back the old copy or reverse the change...
