I'm not quite sure what you're asking. There are separate options in the settings for customised smileys and customised message icons. You have to add them separately.

You can't use smileys as message icons

There is no default feature to do this although I believe there might be something in Tips and Tricks. A search should certainly be able to find some method to do this as solutions have been posted in the past
