How do I fix this? I overwrote all the files, what else should I delete?

Sometimes ftp doesn't replace the existing files it needs to.

I'd suggest try again, and double check that it replaces and not ignores the replacement of files that it needs to change.

Avery, is this issue resolved now? You might also want to try using another FTP program like FileZilla if you are not already using it. I don't have much issues when using this program to upload my files.

I get this error even with a fresh installation of SMF (installed via Fantastico), but that's for 1.1.7.   It doesn't seem to effect anything for me.

Avery, after a backup of your files, I'd suggest you delete all files and folders except for attachments/avatars and settings.php/settings_bak.php files.

This should ensure you've then only got the updated files from the large upgrade package.

It's most likely due to custom theme template/language files.
