Hi,

I am new here but I have used SMF before - I have a Phpbb3 forum but have been having problems so am looking for another forum software that 'may' be able to help solve my problem. That problem is, I have my own website and I wanted to put my forum inside my website, so members can click on the forum link on my website and not have to go outside my website to get to the forum. I hope that makes sense?
I have tried editing the header & footer files on my phpbb theme/skin so the forum has the same look & feel of my website and that worked but then the forum seemed to overlap my actual layout of my website and you couldn't edit your profile and lots of other things.. I presume I have to edit alot of other files but I wasn't sure which...
Anyway, I wondered if using this forum software would be any easier and if anyone had any ideas? I would appreciate it alot  and I am sorry if there is already a similar thread on the forum.  :)

You can use some of the stuff from within your forum with SSI
eg http://www.simplemachines.org/community/ssi_examples.php

However if you want to get the whole forum within the website, your going to need to customize smf to look like your forum.
Probably in much the same way you do it for phpbb.

justme08, is this issue resolved now? If not, you might want to take a look at the Portals and Bridges board. You can use CMS (Content Management Systems) for your site and have them integrated with SMF.

greyknight17, I have decided against doing this now because I was finding it very complicated lol but thankyou anyway :)

These might help, but they all currently relate to 1.1.x still.  There are changes in 2.0, but it might help give direction and ideas.

Simple Machines Website-Forum Integration

Also helpful, but limited in parts to 1.1.x as well at the moment.
