Alpha signs In rc1

hello guys
i have just updated my smf2beta4.1 to rc1
my forum was able to understand beta alpha and other complex signs but not now
i tred to convert db from forum maintanance

Convert HTML-entities to UTF-8 characters
This function will convert all characters that are stored in the database as HTML-entities to UTF-8 characters. This is especially useful when you have just converted your forum from a character set like ISO-8859-1 while non-latin characters were used on the forum. The browser then sends all characters as HTML-entities. For example, the HTML-entity α represents the greek letter α (alpha). Converting entities to UTF-8 will improve searching and sorting of text and reduce storage size.

feeling very bad to bump again
now im  telling breifly what exactly my problem is

I was using smf2beta4.1 on my fun forum
mostly my users display names are in other special charactors
after full upgrade it shows them messy like
˙·٠•● ۰FaY (●̪•)

To convert i went to forum maintanance
and clicked convert
then it showed me this screen
and even after 3 hours it is not happening.


Anybody Help me please

Are you using a UTF8 language pack?  If not, that could be the issue.  A link to your site would help as well.

If you look at the smf_messages table in phpmyadmin, what is the collation for the 'body' field?

well i am login with phpmyadmin
And i find smf_message
But i dont know what to do and how to do here
i havnt played with database before
can you please tell me in little detail how to ?

Was your board already utf8, and you ran the option for utf8 again?  I'm not sure how that would affect utf8 characters...

it wasnt working for me after upgrade
so i tried converting
and things are still same
still i cant see some signs

What I'm saying is that if your board was already in UTF8, and you ran the conversion again, that could mess up the database.  I'll try and do some testing to see how it affects the board.

it was already utf8 then after upgrading to rc1 it went back then i tried converting and nothing happnd

How did you upgrade?  Just upload and run the upgrade.php script?

Have you tried to convert the DB again, not just the HTML entries?
