When the mouse pointer hover over the tabs at the main menu of SMF 2.0 RC1 the "Finger Pointing Hand" does not show up. This occur in Internet Explorer - it show up in Mozilla Firefox.

Note: Using SMF 1.1.7, the "Finger Pointing Hand" show up in both Internet Explorer & Mozilla Firefox.

I doubt this would be a bug, it would have more to do with your theme.

By the way, you should update to SMF 1.1.8

I use the default theme - it is a fresh installation, no changes to the theme.

Odd, it works for me. I tried it in IE8 RC1 and IE8 RC1's Compatibility view and the finger shows up.

isn't this controlled by your computer, not your internet browser/online application?

The "Finger Pointing Hand" show up in SMF 1.1.7 but did not show up in SMF 2.0 RC1 - using the same browser (Internet Explorer) on the same computer with no changes in the browser & computer settings. Also, when using Mozilla Firefox the "Finger Pointing Hand" show up in both SMF 1.1.7 & SMF 2.0 RC1. Only with IE & SMF 2.0 RC1 combination the "Finger Pointing Hand" does not show up when the mouse pointer hover over the tabs at the main menu. This could be due to the default theme used with SMF 2.0 RC1. Therefore the default theme needs to be checked to find out whether there is any compatibility issue with Internet Explorer.

Checked in IE8 /  IE7 / Firefox 3 / Safari (Windows) / Opera 9.27 / Opera 9.63 / Chrome

Pointer hand works properly in all when hovering over the buttons or submenu items.

What version of IE are you using?

IE4 / 5 / 5.5 / 6 / 7 / 8 or IE Mac

It could be a bug with the beta. (there were alot of them in both betas, aswell as the numerous memory leaks which I'm sure you've come across).

I'm testing with IE8 RC1 (release candidate) now, and its alot better than the betas, less bugs.

It might be worth upgrading, not just for browsing smf, but general browsing benefits aswell.

aldo

Indeed. IE8 Beta 1 and 2 were quite buggy. I have recently upgraded to RC1 and a majority of the problems are gone.

The finger pointer is controlled by the browser, Although if my memory serves, you can change it via css for some browsers.
Anways, SMF has already sent the HTML output that makes it a clickable link, it is up to your browser to change it to a hand.

I have had in some cases where the hand will not appear in firefox. I had to close and restart firefox to fix it. I don't know what is up, I assume a bad cache :P
