Hi! I'm having some problems with registrations.

Well, it all divides in two:

1) When people registered, and I accepted registrations, my server administrator told me that they had recieved like 100 unsent and returned mails because of me, and suspended my account. Then when they reactivated me, I disabled the sendmail option so it wouldn't bug again, and instead used SMTP. Now my administrator doesn't complain, but each time you register or post, you get a socket error. I think it said "error in opensocket function". I've tried with different SMTP accounts and think they are valid.

2) I started switching between modes and seeing if emails arrived and that, when suddenly, when I was registering myself as test user, i got a message after filling the registration form: "you can't access this area". I am sure that the option "don't not allow new resgistrations" is turned off, so I don't know why this is happening!

Thanks for reading

You've got a few things going on here:

1. Using sendmail, all your email was bouncing.  This can either indicate that people were registering with fake accounts, or your server is blacklisted as a spammer.

2. Your SMTP settings may not be correct.  Check to make sure you're using the server with no spaces, quotes, or anything like that.  An example might be "outgoing.verizon.net" - using port 25.  Obviously, you need an account for that to work.

3. Your server may not have access to other server's port 25.  Ask your administrator.

You cannot register twice in a row; instead, use the "email your members" functionality in the admin center, or "register a new member" in the registration management.
