hi guys i need some advice on creating member groups. Here's what i want to do.

i run a council house exchange site in the uk and i have every uk county as a board.

i want to set a moderator member group up for each county and lock it so that the moderator can only moderate that board yet still be able to view the entire forum and post as a normal poster can.

i want it like this,

avon mod = avon board mod only but can view and post normally any were

does this make sense at all and can it be done

When creating the board, enter the username(s) of the persons you want as 'board moderator'
That means that they have local moderator permission over that board only.

In all other boards their badge will appear as a normal user, and they will effectively be a regular user in those boards that they do not moderate.

why havent SMF made you a support member. they should really as you have answered some of my questions a hell of a lot faster than the support team. can i have the said member in both the mod group and regular member group

alan1979, support team members have to be chosen carefully. We appreciate help from any member and if we see that a member is active and provides good support, we will take them into consideration. With that said, we are monitoring users and whenever we see a potential candidate, we will take a little while longer and see if we should bring him/her into the team.

About answering your questions. Keep in mind that we only have so many helpers (support team or not) and compare that to the amount of users asking for help. I can't speak for all the support team members, but I for one am currently working on a bunch of old topics (say older than a week if not more) that have either not been replied to yet or have not been resolved. Asking the team members to ignore those and go ahead with answering only the current topics is not exactly good support either now is it? ;)

If the problem is resolved, feel free to mark your topic as solved.

None taken. Just trying to explain a little on what's going on here. I'm still catching up to old topics as you can tell.

I assume the issue is resolved now. The reply given by regularexpression should answer your question. Topic will be marked as solved.
