Maybe I'm just missing a setting somewhehere, but here's how it works in SMF 1.1.7

On the boardindex, there's the icons to display wether there's unread posts in a board of a category. When you click into a board, there are several new messages and you don't read them all, returning to the boardindex will still keep the "new Messages"- icon.

In SMF 2.0 RC1 when you enter a board from the boardindex, then returning to the boardindex makes the "no new posts" show up, even you didn't read the posts in the board.

What am I missing?

Brettflan

The icon indicates whether there are new posts since you last viewed the board, not whether there are any unread posts at all in the board.

Akyhne

But that's the way it works in SMF 1.1.8 and earlier.

Maybe I didn't explain it correct. It's when there's a sub board with unread messages that 1.1.x still shows "New Posts". 2.0 doesn't.

Brettflan

If there's a child board which you haven't visited and which has new posts, it should show a different icon ("on2" rather than "on") for the parent board. This image tends to look about halfway between "on" and "off". The parent board should still show the popup text "New Posts" when you hover your mouse over the icon for it.

That's not what it's doing on your board?

Akyhne

No, it just shows that there's no new posts. By the way I never saw on2 more that a few times in my SMF 1.1.x forum. I assume it's a bug, but I always settled with the on icon.

Brettflan

Strange. It works fine on my test board copy which has gone from 1.1.5(ish) -> 2.0b3 -> 2.0b3.1 -> 2.0 RC1. You can also see it working properly on this current modified 2.0b4 board.
What theme are you using? Have you tried a different one, or tried the default theme if that's not the one you're using?

Akyhne

Strange, I went through all settings in admin panel, and now it works :-\
