Just did the update to RC2 and it basically took down every mod we have created the past 2 years - until I am ready to devote days of rewriting - is there an easy way to rollback to 1.1.18??

Yes, you can. If you have made a backup prior to upgrading to 2.0 RC 1, you can restore it. That is the easiest way.

There is another way to roll back, by manually altering the db tables. But that requires a lot of work. And I mean really a lot. I should know cos I have rolled back 3 forums in the past that way.

I backed up main files (index, etc...)  but the rc2 install said it was making a backup before it did the upgrade - can this be found easily?????

What about the database? Did you make a backup?

In your case, check the database and see if you have tables in there starting with the backup prefix.

Crap - with my limited knowledge of this - I think I screwed my board!!!

Hoping one of my other admin has a somewhat recent backup of the files.  I replaced what I had and it just made it worse.

Can't believe they didn't add an "uninstall" in case things like this happened...

How about the idea of installing 1.1.8 over 2.0??

I see you online greyknight  ;D - you gotta help me!!!!

I just went through this too and babjusi helped me out greatly...but I am pretty sure you cant just upload it over 2.4 RC1. I was disappointed in the new menu in the admin section, the RC1 version is way harder to navigate IMO, they would have been better off using 2.04 beta because it was super stable til I did the upgrade, now I am having nothing but issues with lil things

We had so many custom mods that it totally took down, but it even just made the forums in general unusable.  I had everything but the sources fgolder backed up locally and am losing my mind trying to get it back!!  Contacted my host to see if they have a backup and am just waiting for a reply.

What mods did you have installed? Most mod authors have upgraded their mods to 2.0 RC 1.

Honestly - most of our mods were written by us.  Specific things to our site.  We can go through and redo them all for RC1 and plan on it but not on our live board!!  This is what I get for uploading it to the live board - I do know that.

My host just emailed me saying they are looking into a database backup right now so hopefully I can just roll back to yesterday and install RC1 on a forum2 type setup and tweak our mods to fit!!

Just really disappointed there is not some sort of uninstall or rollback feature for an upgrade as large as this!!

This is why it's noted in big letters when you download the 2.0 Package:
Note: As this is not a final release, we do not recommend running SMF 2.0 RC1 on a production site.

This is also why it's always recommended to backup and we have a Online Manual doc on what to do, specially for such major upgrades:
Upgrade SMF
Sorry that it has not gone as you has thought it would go, but we can only supply as much information as we can in the hope people might consult it.

You should still have the backup tables in the db to fall back too and the files you've backed up to go to the previous 1.1.8.
