Packages not installing or uninstalling.

Some packages I can install and some I cant.  Sometimes they show up as if they are installed but they dont work, sometimes they show up two times where they should only be once.  For instance I have 2 sections on in the manage boards sections for where to create a redirection borad, neither work and its not showing up in my package manager.  The same goes for the rating mod.

How do I get rid of these?  Im not concerned about them working anymore, I just want to get them out of there.  How do I start all over?  Is there a way to just re-install the forum over what I have?

Thank You.

Re-upload sources and themes, that should kill all current mods if you cant un-install them. If there are any database changes you may need to remove them manually but it might not kick up hell if it stays.

What if I want to keep some of the mods I already have made that do work?

ryanbsoftware

you might just have to reinstall them, or try using the uninstall function for the other mods.

what I did was made sure that the two mods that were showing up on my manageboards.template.php were uninstalled.  Then I uploaded my manageboards.template.php again.  That made them not show up.  Out of curiuosity I installed them again.  They showed up.  I made a test message and IE closed.  I tried to go to the new message in a new window and it gives me this error.

reupload manageboards.template.php then, thats about all you can do, i got that error before from a mod and [unknown] said to jusy reupload display.template.php since thats the easiest fix so in your case it would be manageboards.template.php you need to reupload. ;)

Sounds like something went screwed somewhere along the sources line, maybe try uninstalling it again.  How many mods do you have and what are they?#

that sorda worked... is there a way I can just start completely over without uploading everything again?  Its not important what I lose as this is a test board. :)

ryanbsoftware

if the uninstall links don't work you will have to reupload it.  :-\

I mean start completely over with the forums as a whole. :)

ryanbsoftware

just reupload the smf files, just compleatly reinstall would be the bst to clean out the db and all source and theme files. ;)

3fifty

It takes way too long for me to do that lol.. if thats the only way to reinstall I guess thats what I will have to do though.  :) Thanks for all the help, this place is great!

Trekkie101

If you have a cPanel enabled host you could use its filemanager its much faster working than FTP.

ryanbsoftware

heck if you have cpanel you can use fantastico to install smf, the only problem is i don't know if thats the most recent version it installs but upgrading is faster than installing.

3fifty

I dont have cpanel.  Im doing this on my dads test server.  Thanks again for all the help.
